Cotenele not only manufactures switchgear with voltage levels of 12kV, but also medium-voltage switchgear with voltage levels ranging from 3.6kV to 40.5kV, including 24kV gas-insulatde ring main unit. The 22KV MV Gas Insulated Gis Switchgear is a rated voltage 24kv gas-insulated ring main unit (RMU) ,which features a compact, fully sealed switchgear, This design makes the RMU immune to environmental contamination, humidity, and dust, ensuring high reliability and safety.
Cotenele is a key partner of China Southern Power Grid Corporation and a major supplier of 22KV MV Gas Insulated Gis Switchgear to the State Grid Corporation of China. It is a compact, fully sealed switchgear designed for secondary power distribution. All live components are enclosed within a welded stainless steel tank, filled with insulating gas such as SF₆ or clean air. This design ensures immunity to humidity, dust, and contamination, providing high reliability and safety.
Key advantages include:
Compact Size: The unit has an exceptionally small footprint, with a width as narrow as 325 mm.
Maintenance-Free Lifespan: It offers a long-lasting, maintenance-free operation, exceeding 30 years.
Environmental Durability: It can function reliably under harsh conditions such as high altitudes, salt fog, and extreme temperatures.
The 24 kV gas-insulated ring main units are primarily used in urban ring networks, wind and solar farms, industrial facilities, and underground substations.
Our 24 kV gas-insulated RMU meets the following standards:
GB/T 3906
IEC 62271-200
GB/T 11022

Operation conditions
1. Ambient temperature range: -40°C to +40°C.
2. Relative humidity conditions: Daily average relative humidity ≤ 95%, monthly average relative humidity ≤ 90%.
3. Altitude requirement: Installation altitude shall not exceed 2000 meters. For applications at higher altitudes, the specific altitude value must be clearly stated.
4. Seismic capacity: Earthquake intensity not exceeding Magnitude 8.
5. Installation site conditions: The equipment shall be installed in locations free from fire hazards, explosion risks, severe contamination, chemical corrosion, and intense vibration.
6. Degrees of protection: IP67 for SF₆ gas compartment, IP67 for fuses, and IP3X for the switchgear enclosure.
The Product Structure And Working Principle
Core structure:
The most distinctive feature of 22KV MV Gas Insulated Gis Switchgear is its fully enclosed, fully insulated construction. The core component is a gas-tight tank made of 3mm thick stainless steel welded by laser. This tank acts as a sturdy "fortress" enclosing all high-voltage live parts and filling them with insulating gas, achieving an ingress protection rating of IP67, this means it can withstand brief immersion in water.
A complete 22kV GIS typically consists of several functional units:
1. C-unit (Load switch unit) – makes and breaks normal load currents.
2. F-unit (Load switch-fuse combination unit) – provides short-circuit protection, typically for transformers.
3. V-unit (Circuit breaker unit) – capable of making, carrying, and breaking both normal and fault (short-circuit) currents.
4. Auxiliary units – including busbar connection, metering, PT (voltage transformer) units.
These units are flexibly combinable via side or top expansion to suit various grid configurations.
Working Principle: Gas Insulation + Vacuum Arc Quenching
Insulation: The dielectric strength relies on the insulating gas inside – commonly SF₆ or dry air, which allows much smaller clearances and thus compact equipment size.
Arc quenching: When a switch opens, an arc forms between contacts. The GIS typically uses a vacuum interrupter to extinguish the arc quickly and reliably.
The advantages and working socpe
Main Advantages:
High reliability & safety: Not affected by external adverse factors such as condensation, pollution, salt spray, and small animals.
Compact & space-saving: Compared to air-insulated switchgear, it can save over 60% of the usable area.
Maintenance-free design: No routine cleaning; design life >30 years.
Strong environmental adaptability: Operates from -40°C to +40°C, at high altitude, high humidity, etc.
Working Scope
Urban distribution networks (downtown, commercial buildings, high-rise residential)
Renewable energy (wind, solar farm grid connection)
