The XGN15-24 series 22KV Medium Voltage Ring Main Unit RMU Panel is a box type fixed metal enclosed ring network switchgear widely used in 20kV voltage level distribution systems. The ring main units have features such as compact structure, modular design, and good operational safety,and are widely employed many industrial and civilian power distribution projects.

Ring main unit is one of core products manufactured by Cotenele,we can provide the RMUs which voltage is from 3.6kv to 40.5kv.The XGN15-24 series 22KV Medium Voltage Ring Main Unit RMU Panel is designed for three-phase AC 50Hz power distribution systems with a rated voltage of 24kV. The entire cabinet of the ring main unit employs air insulation for the busbar system. Developed for modern distribution networks, the XGN15-24 RMU is a compact, expandable, and scalable metal-enclosed switchgear solution suitable for distribution automation applications. The product fully complies with IEC 62271-200 standards and meets the requirements of urban power grid renovation and industrial power distribution projects.

Working Conditions

1. Ambient temperature range: The upper limit is +40 °C, and the lower limit is –25 °C. The average temperature measured over any 24‑hour period shall not exceed +35 °C.

2. Relative humidity: The daily average relative humidity does not exceed 95 %, and the monthly average relative humidity remains below 90 %.

3. Altitude: The altitude not exceeding 1 000 m above sea level.

4. Air Condition: The surrounding air is free from significant contamination by dust, smoke, corrosive or flammable gases, steam, or salt spray.

5. Vibration and seismic conditions: External vibrations or ground movements originating are negligible and have no measurable influence on the equipment.

The XGN15-24 22KV Medium Voltage Ring Main Unit RMU Panel is composed of four main functional compartments, each compartment has different roles within the switchgear:

1. Busbar Compartment

The busbar compartment is located in the upper section of the ring main unit. The main busbars are connected together and run through the entire body of ring main unit. This compartment main role is efficient power collection and distribution across multiple interconnected units.

2. Load Switch Compartment (Main Switch compartment)

Load break switches ( such as FLN36-24 or FLN56) are usually installed in this compartment as the main switchgear. The shell of the load break switch is cast from epoxy resin and filled with sulfur hexafluoride gas as an insulating medium. There is an observation window on the shell. In addition, according to customer requirements, the compartment can also be equipped with a sulfur hexafluoride gas density meter or a gas density meter with alarm contacts.

3. Cable Compartment

Cable compartments usually have sufficient space for easy connection of cables. Both single core and three core cables can be connected through simple unshielded cable terminations. Other components such as lightning arresters, current transformers, and grounding switches also can be installed in this compartment. There are observation windows and safety interlock devices on the compartment door, while the bottom plate includes a sealing cover, appropriately sized cable clamps, and support frames. For cable installation, the bottom plate and front frame is disassembled.

4. Low-Voltage Control Compartment

The low-voltage compartment has both roles of an interlocking system and a control panel. There are a spring operating mechanism with position indicator and a mechanical interlocking devices in it. The compartment can also be equipped with auxiliary contacts, trip coils, emergency trip mechanisms, capacitive live displays, keylocks, and electric operating devices. The entire Low-voltage compartment can be replaced if necessary, this modularization design can enhance serviceablity.

5. Interlocking Mechanisms

The low-voltage compartment is equipped with a five-position mechanical interlocking system to prevent incorrect operation sequence. This comprehensive interlocking design ensures the safety of operation.

Load Switching and Protection: The load break switch canprovide reliable switching of load currents, while the unit of combination for load break switch and fuse can interrupt rated short-circuit currents in a single operation. This combination provides both control and protection for distribution lines and power equipment.

Power Distribution and Control: The RMU functions as both a ring network power supply unit and a terminal power distribution device. It is capable of receiving and distributing electrical energy within loop power supply systems, offering comprehensive control and monitoring capabilities for power distribution networks.

Automation Capabilities: The equipment can be integrated with power distribution automation systems. When equipped with motorized operating mechanisms, potential transformers, current transformers, FTUs, and communication devices, it supports remote monitoring and control functions, including telecontrol capabilities for enhanced distribution reliability.
